Dear Reuven Chaim,

New record to share, following the Reiter correction sent earlier this week.

The Munkacs Jewish marriage register 1886-1895 (State Archive of Zakarpattia, DAZkO Fond 1606, Opis 15, Sprava 35), record 30: on 14 September 1886, Rosner Salamon, 22, merchant, son of Rosner Berko and Weingarten Sorel, married Seidenfeld Chaje Bine, 20, born in Munkacs. The bride's parents are written letter-clear: "Seidenfeld Nathan" and "Ruchel Leie" of Munkacs - Naftule Seidenfeld and Rochel Leah (Reiter), alive and named in 1886. The officiant was Rabbi Salamon Spira, the Munkacser Rov.

Two things follow:

1. It confirms the family tradition that a daughter of Naftule married a Rosner - and it explains why Rosner Salamon, shoe merchant, reported Rochel Leah's death in 1906: he was her son-in-law.
2. It adds a daughter, Chaje Bine (born about 1866), absent from the published trees. Whether she is Shaindel (wife of Yechiel Michel Beinhorn) under a double name, or a separate sister, is open.

You may know Moishe Miller's page 'The Yakov Eliezer Reiter Family' - it cites Efraim Fishel Seidenfeld's 1892 Munkacs marriage record as naming his mother 'Rochel Leah Uri.'

We have now read the original register page. The book is DAZkO Fond 1606, Opis 16, Delo 55 (the archive's stamp is on the cover - the fond is 1606, not 1601), and record 14, June 5, 1892, gives the groom's parents as 'Nathan, Reiter Rachel' - Reiter, not Uri. His bride Pepi Perlmutter's mother is written as a Reiter of Tass as well.

Rochel Leah's own Munkacs civil death record is now in hand: record 102, reported March 21, 1906 (State Archive of Zakarpattia, Fond 1606, Opis 15, Delo 113; the March entries are in delo 113 - delo 114 covers only September-December 1906).

It names her 'Reiter Rüchel Leie, Seidenfeld Naftalinné' - Rochel Leah Reiter, wife of Naftali Seidenfeld - and gives her parents as the late Jankel Lejner (Jacob Eliezer) Reiter of Munkacs and the late Chaje Bine Weisz, wife of Jankel Reiter. She was born in Munkacs, lived at Bánki utca 7, and died at 72, at 6 AM, of old-age decline. The informant was Rosner Salamon, a shoe merchant of Munkacs.

Two independent primary records now agree on REITER - her son's 1892 marriage entry and her own 1906 death record. The 'Uri' attribution appears to survive only as family tradition.
