Those names don't sound familiar, so I doubt that there is a connection, unless its higher up the tree. Was you Mermelstein family from Munkatch a family of Levites, because the family Iam looking into are not Levities, but I came across a few Mermelstein families from Munkatch in my research who are Leviim (see my old genealogy webite here and look around for email with those other researchers).
