• The article, including its footnotes and publication details;
• The original unpublished chart in a readable format; and
• Any source that explicitly identifies the older Michal as Rabbi Shlomo’s son—ideally the exact title, edition and page, or a photograph of the relevant passage.

We have checked the genealogy footnote in the Budapest 1942 Ktav Sofer introduction. It describes an orphan Michel’s father as a son of the Taz without naming that father, so it does not by itself establish the specific Shlomo–Michal identification.

I’m seeking existing source material and references, not commissioning paid research. I am also writing separately to Mr. Tauber in case either of you still has the material. Thank you for any guidance.

New record to share, following the Reiter correction sent earlier this week.

The Munkacs Jewish marriage register 1886-1895 (State Archive of Zakarpattia, DAZkO Fond 1606, Opis 15, Sprava 35), record 30: on 14 September 1886, Rosner Salamon, 22, merchant, son of Rosner Berko and Weingarten Sorel, married Seidenfeld Chaje Bine, 20, born in Munkacs. The bride's parents are written letter-clear: "Seidenfeld Nathan" and "Ruchel Leie" of Munkacs - Naftule Seidenfeld and Rochel Leah (Reiter), alive and named in 1886. The officiant was Rabbi Salamon Spira, the Munkacser Rov.

Two things follow:

1. It confirms the family tradition that a daughter of Naftule married a Rosner - and it explains why Rosner Salamon, shoe merchant, reported Rochel Leah's death in 1906: he was her son-in-law.
2. It adds a daughter, Chaje Bine (born about 1866), absent from the published trees. Whether she is Shaindel (wife of Yechiel Michel Beinhorn) under a double name, or a separate sister, is open.

Attached: the updated report "Seidenfeld of Munkacs - What the Records Prove" and three crops from the register page (the bride's parents cell, the groom's parents, and the date and officiant columns). The full 1886-1895 marriage book is scanned free on Wikimedia Commons:

We have now read the original register page. Rochel Leah's own Munkacs civil death record is now in hand: record 102, reported March 21, 1906 (State Archive of Zakarpattia, Fond 1606, Opis 15, Delo 113; the March entries are in delo 113 - delo 114 covers only September-December 1906).

It names her 'Reiter Rüchel Leie, Seidenfeld Naftalinné' - Rochel Leah Reiter, wife of Naftali Seidenfeld - and gives her parents as the late Jankel Lejner (Jacob Eliezer) Reiter of Munkacs and the late Chaje Bine Weisz, wife of Jankel Reiter. Good question! In fact, I have been asking this question for over 20 years now. I wish I had the answer. The only clue I have is a mesorah from the family that Devorah Eckstein was a descendant of the Noam Elimelech. I keep trying to find out more, but nobody knows. I do hope you can help figure this out. Let me know if I can help in any way.

I'm not familiar with "Rabbi Yaakov Klein from Brooklyn". Who is he? Looking at Geni.com all I see under Leah (Friedman) Klein is her son Berish Klein. IIRC, Berish Klein = Bernard Klein who was professor of history in Kingsborough College. Did Leah (Friedman) Klein have more children? Did Bernard Klein have children? I'm admittedly weak on this branch of the family, but were you in touch with David Friedman or Heshy Friedman? I'm CC'ing other members of the family, maybe somebody has more to say on this. Yes, the surname Sirkiz (or Sirkes) is the possessive form of the nickname Sirka which is a diminutive of Sarah. Probably the most famous member of the family is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joel_Sirkis and I am a descendant of his. Are you also a descendant of his?
