Re: Rabbi Reuven Chaim Klein

What is your connection to Rabbi Reuven Chaim Klein that you mentioned who is buried in Vienna? As far as I know, he was not a Levite. You can see on his tombstone if you want, see https://www.geni.com/people/Rav-Reuven-Klein/6000000008827990400
You said your father's name is Reuven Chaim Klein, do you know what his father's name was and his father's name? Where did you father live? What makes you think you are a Levi? There are a lot of KLEIN families that are Leviim, but it doesn't seem that our family is one of them.

Alas, but it is not to be.  We are leviim.  Or so we believe.

My great-great-great-grandfather was Rabbi Reuven Chaim Klein, who lived from 1830-1918. He was actually the rabbi of a small town near Munkatch called Davidkoff or Davidhaus (depending on if you are speaking Russian or Hungarian) and in his last years he was sick so he went to Vienna to consult with doctors, but ended up dying there (where he is buried). He was a student of the Chasam Sofer and the Maharam Ash and he authored the work Shenos Chaim (which is a commentary to Rabbeinu Yerucham). His eldest son, Binyamin Eliezer (for whom my eldest son is named) was my great-great-grandfather. I have an unkempt blog from the past decade+ of genealogy research, you might be able to find some information there: http://kleinfamilygenealogy.blogspot.com or you can try to connect with me on geni.com and we can share information. Looking forward to getting to know you better--cuz. ;)

Can you, please, have Rabbi Reuven Chaim Klein contact me?

My name is Yoel Leib ben Reuven Chaim Klein and I have a question or two about his name.

Also, there was a Rabbi Reuven Chaim Klein that lived in Vienna from 1830 to 1918.  I was wondering if this Rabbi knows about him.

If you need a reference, ask Rabbi Rockmill about me.
